Staying at Palazzo Cavagna is an authentic once-in-a-lifetime experience. The place, the people, and the scenery were truly unique. The host, Lorenzo, is friendly and knowledgeable, and he and his staff will take good care of you. The place is a mansion from the 1700s century, with most of its decor and furniture from that period and style. The surroundings are beautiful, and there are almost no other tourists around. So, this is the place to go if you are looking for a truly unique experience.

We stayed for one night on business as our usual hotels were all booked up due to Salone di Mobile and was 30 min drive to our destination. ||We arrived by car and struggled to see where to locate it after sat nav told us that we have reached our destination. There is no indication/ signpost from the outside whatsoever. I asked the local gentleman where the hotel was and he was confused saying there are no hotels here- I then showed him the name of the establishment and he pointed me to press the intercom buzzer in the gate. ||The gate opened to the large courtyard (see the photo) and we were welcomed by Lorenzo who was the owner of quite large “residenzia” and rents several rooms. What we found was in fact very expensive B&B marketed as „suites”. To be fair they were large rooms with high ceilings furnished with solid wood furniture. Bed, two chairs and wardrobe amidst loads of empty space with a rug on it which could have been made into sitting area instead. The bathroom was also very large with bathrobes and nice towels. There was air-conditioning unit controlled by a remote. ||Breakfast had limited choice but everything was fresh, good quality and elegantly presented on a proper china.||There was absolutely nowhere to eat dinner within walking distance- we had to drive 20 min to nearby town of Pavia. ||Considering the limited facilities and unattractive random location- the price was steep - over twice as much as we paid for a proper country hotel in Tuscany night before. We have expected luxury within this price. Having said that Lorenzo was a lovely and attentive host and we wish him all the best!

Great place outside of Milan! Close to Pavia, beautiful scenery, quiet and safe. Lorenzo the owner is great and very helpful, he is a wealth of information. Our stay was in mid September 2022 and it was nothing short of amazing😍 the breakfast was so good and had a great spread and variety. I wanted to stay forever. The rooms are huge and the bathrooms are luxurious. The art is beautiful! We even got a family history lesson of the property which I appreciated. Very peaceful and relaxing. Only about a 45 minute drive to Milan. The property is very well kept. There are restaurants not far away within walking distance. Rooms are very clean and the views of the pool and gardens are great. Very quiet at night which is peaceful and perfect. We had 2 of the suites. I will stay here again on my next visit!

Wir wurden sehr freundlich vom Schlossherren empfangen und die Suite sowie auch das gesamte Schloss mit Schlossgarten sind grandios schön. Das Frühstück war zudem sehr reichhaltig und wir wurden sehr angenehm bedient. Zudem waren wir zeitweise ganz alleine am Pool oder im Schlossgarten. Das Schloss gibt einem sehr viel Privatsphäre. Wir haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen sehr gerne wieder. Herzlichen Dank nochmal für den wunderschönen Aufenthalt!

Ein wunderschöner Palazzo mit nur vier Suiten. Privacy und Luxus. Sehr schöne grosszügige Suite mit Sicht auf den fantastischen Park. Am Kaminfeuer wurde uns ein Aperitif serviert und danach haben wir ein ausgezeichnetes Abendessen im Ristorante Della Lalla genossen. Grazie mille Lorenzo e famiglia. A presto!

Wir waren zu dritt mit unserer 3jährigen Tochter für 4 Tage und Nächte im Palazzo und hatten eine tolle Zeit (Juli 2021).
Nicht nur wegen des schönen Ortes selbst sondern auch Dank der herzlichen Eigentümerfamilie von Lorenzo und seiner Frau, die uns den Aufenthalt sehr angenehm gestaltet haben.
Wer wie wir Ruhe und Entspannung in einem geschmackvollen Ambiente sucht, ist im Palazzo genau richtig.
Da es nur 5 Gäste-Zimmer gibt, haben Gäste ausreichend Raum für sich. Sei es im Kaminzimmer zum mittäglichen Lesen, am Pool, im 9.000m2 großen Hauseigenen Park mit 200 Jahre alten Magnolien, oder zum gemütlichen Dinner auf der Terrasse.
Bett, Bad, Zimmer und Service waren top. Zum Essen (selbstgemachte Pasta und Hase) bekamen wir persönliche Weinempfehlungen (Lorenzos Frau ist ausgebildete Sommelier).
Wir reisen viel, aber Orte wie der Palazzo sind eine Rarität. Danke für die schöne Zeit, wir kommen gerne wieder.

Ps.: Wir waren zuerst etwas skeptisch wegen der Entfernung zu Mailand, aber faktisch ist man in 45 Minuten am Mailänder Dom, und in den Nachbarorten um Zelata gibt es viele Restaurants.

A beautiful gem outside of Milan! The perfect escape for us with really wonderful rooms and peaceful grounds. The owner Lorenzo is very kind and available to help with any questions. Their restaurant next door is also fabulous!
